(Parable "The One You Feed")
A grandfather is talk to his grandson and he says, "There are two wolves inside each of us. One is a good wolf which represents things like kindness, bravery, and love. The other is a bad wolf which represents things like greed, hatred, and fear."
The grandson stops and thinks about it for a moment, looks up at his grandfather and asks, "which one wins?"
The grandfather quietly replies, "The one you feed"
I stole my words from a preachers mouth
Because he could sing it better
I've held on to so much doubt
So I'm writing you a letter
I'm not the same from from when I began
Don't know if I'm a better or a worse man
Stolen gospel, pen in hand, I'll try to do the best that I can
Each pages tips are scorched in rage
Dug up some fire from my old days
Through crackled lips of songs I've sang
To try and say this in a new way
I thought I'd have to choose between
The kid inside me and the would-be King
But I found it's not the wolf you feed
It's about the one you need
I stole my words from a preachers mouth because he could sing it better

Places Called Home
03:41
|

His daddy said, "boy he was hell on wheels"
His mama said, "always had his mind in the corn fields"
His brothers said, "his heart was a raging wind"
That's what they said when I was dead
I'd look at life like it was a winding road
Never took the time to watch the seeds I'd sewn grow
Looking for the next place to go
A place to call home
And is it too late for me to look where I've been and see
The places I've gone and the people I've left alone
Are stuck in the dust behind me, in places called home
His sister said, "I just want what's best for you"
We never made amends before my life was through
I wish I had, with her and mom and dad
I wish I had
And is it too late for me to look where I've been and see
The places I've gone and the people I've left alone
Are stuck in the dust behind me, in places called home

Go Get It
03:25
|
|||
An open road for you to walk
An open ear to hear you talk
A mixture of happiness and memories
Make up who you were and who you could be
So who says you can, who says you won't? Forget it.
So what do you want? Go get it
But don't you forget who said it.
So what do you want? Go get it
The only thing holding you back is you
the only lies you tell are the truth
And you know you keep making excuses
To hide yourself from your own muses
So who says you can, who says you won't? Forget it.
So what do you want? Go get it
But don't you forget who said it.
So what do you want? Go get it

Ocean Atlas
03:41
|

Places beneath the sea
Cased inside of stone
In her hands she holds the ocean and sleeps alone
In an underwater void
Off the shores she used to know
Ocean Atlas sends us waves from her new home
She sleeps alone, Ocean Atlas, she sleeps alone
I wonder if she sees
The stars the way we do
How does the coral reef change the color of the moon?
And in the brightest day
And in the darkest grey
How does the sunlight flicker and dance upon the bay
She sleeps alone, Ocean Atlas, she sleeps alone

My Wolves
01:13
|
|||
My dad used to have a charger
As a child the back always felt larger
I remember the day it was stolen
It was night and the roads were frozen
I remember my first love, and I remember the second and third
I remember questions about up above, and I remember secrets unheard
Right now I just want some peace from the chaos and love I greet
Right now let the wolves settle down let the pack just meet
As a child I drove a home, through hard times and good times gone
But there is so much left to see and my wolves will help me be...
And my wolves will help me be.
